Le 2110: Le Centre de Concordia contre l’oppression des genres désire engager un(e) assistant(e) animateur(trice) pour le Réseau Santé Trans. Les tâches principales possibles sont: Travailler avec les coordonnateurs et coordonnatrices et les autres organismes dans le Réseau Santé Trans (ASTTeQ, Stella, Projet 10) pour créer et animer
les ateliers sur la santé des personnes transsexuelLEs, transgenres et travestiEs et l’access au services medicale à Quebec; travailler sur le création et centralisation des resources de la santé trans pour le nouveau site web Reseau Santé Trans; et coordonner les bénévoles.
Le candidat idéal ou la candidate idéale est quelqu’un(e) qui aime penser et travailler collectivement, mais qui est aussi quelqu’un(e) d’autonome et de motivé(e). Le poste est un contrat du programme de Placement Étudiant du Canada de RHDCC. Pour être éligible, vous devez être âgé(e) entre 15 et 30 ans. Les personnes qui appliquent doivent egalement avoir été ÉTUDIANTES à TEMPS PLEIN pour la dernière année académique (2008-09) et doivent retourner à l’école en automne à temps plein.
Le Centre 2110
Le 2110 est un organisme dirigé par un collectif. Il a pour objectif de combattre l’oppression liée au genre, particulièrement en lien avec les communautés culturelles, les personnes membres des Premières Nations et communautés autochtones, les personnes transsexuelles, transgenres, non conformiste de genre et genderqueer, les individus intersexes, les lesbiennes, gais, personnes bisexuelles, queers et en questionnement, les individus qui vivent de la discrimination basée sur la taille, les personnes travailleuses du sexe, les personnes Sourdes, les individus qui ont un faible revenu, les individus stigmatisés en lien avec leur santé mentale, personnes vivant avec un handicap et les femmes. Nous offrons des services d’entraide par les pairs, d’information et de références gratuits et confidentiels, une librairie de ressources alternatives, ainsi que des ateliers, des cours et des évènements publics tant à la communauté étudiante de Concordia qu’à la communauté montréalaise en général.

JOB POSTING: TRANS HEALTH NETWORK ASSISTANT ANIMATOR – SHORT TERM
SUMMER CONTRACT
The 2110 Centre for Gender Advocacy is currently hiring for an
assistant animator for the Trans Health Network. Tasks involve:
working with coordinators and partners organizations (ASTTeQ, Stella,
Project 10) on creating and facilitating workshops about trans health
and access to services in Quebec;working on creating/centralizing
trans health resources for the new Trans Health Network website; and coordinating volunteers.
The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys thinking and working collectively, but who is also self-motivated and self-directed. This is a short term summer contract through the HRDC Canada Summer Jobs program. To be eligible you must be between 15 and 30 years old. Eligible applicants also need to have een a FULL TIME STUDENT during the past academic year, and be returning to school full time in the fall.
ABOUT THE 2110 CENTRE
The 2110 is a collectively run organization committed to fighting
gender oppression, especially as it relates to communities of colour,
Indigenous people, transsexual, transgendered, gender non-conforming, and genderqueer people, intersex people, lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer
and questioning people, people who experience sizeism, sex workers, Deaf people, low income people, people affected by mental health stigmatization, people with disabilities and women. We provide free and confidential peer support and advocacy, information and referrals, an alternative resource library, and ongoing workshops, classes and
public events to both Concordia students and the greater Montreal community.

position!

The 2110 Centre for Gender Advocacy is an independent, student-funded, Concordia University organization, mandated to promoting gender equality and empowerment particularly as it relates to marginalized communities. This mandate is achieved through on-going programming, campaigns, resources, services, and advocacy. One of the projects of the 2110 is to provide a multi-media resource centre and library, open to the public, as directed by membership contributions and requests,
that promotes independent local distributors and publishers. We are
currently seeking a coordinator to further develop the library over the summer months.
Job duties:
– categorizing current collection according to new categorization system
– collecting zines
– organizing library-centred event (for early August)
– checking out and shelving items
– promoting the library, in conjunction with Publicity and Promotions
Coordinator
– creating flyers, posters, making links with zine/book distros
Required Skills:
– knowledge of Excel, database programs
– ability to work in a Mac environment
– understanding of and commitment to 2110 mandate
Assets:
– functionally bilingual
– ability to work with a collective, and autonomously
– some Photoshop knowledge
– some library experience
Contract Duraction and Remuneration:
The stipend is for a total of 55 hours at $18/hour. The hours are
flexible throughout June-August (will be negotiated between Coordinator and 2110 Board).
