“From Danger to Dignity”
This eye-opening documentary chronicles the double-pronged movement-the grassroots activism and intensive legislative lobbying- that culminated in Roe v. Wade. The movie combines rare archival footage with present-day interviews to weave together two parallel stories: the evolution of underground networks to help women find safe abortions outside the law and the intensive efforts of activists and legislators who broke the silence and changed the laws. (Dorothy Fadiman & Beth Seltzer / USA / 1995 / 57 min)

“Defending a Choice for Women”
A women’s reproductive health clinic–aptly named A Choice For Women–has come under attack by anti-choice activists. This documentary features the work of Miami Clinic Access Project (MCAP), as they defend this clinic over months and months in mid-2006. (Beverly Thompson / USA / 2007 / 27 min)
Discussion: The films will be followed by a brief presentation on the current state of abortion access in Canada .

The 2110’s Reproductive Autonomy Campaign articulates reproductive freedom as a radical politic based in solidarity with other social justice movements through action, literature and popular education. This campaign started in July 2008 (in the midst of the near passage of Bill C484 –the Unborn Victims of Crime Act) and is aimed at creating change directed at facilitating self-determination with respect to reproductive health and rights.
