Healing: In Rhyme, In Time. A workshop for BIPOC survivors

This poetry writing and art-making workshop is open to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Colour) survivors and people impacted by sexual violence. Everyone is invited to participate in the ways and amounts they feel most comfortable participating. You are welcome to bring old (or unfinished) poetry and art, your favourite journals or materials, and snacks. Writing and crafting materials will be provided as well as snacks and refreshments.

Childcare available with 48 hours’ notice. If you have any accessibility needs or if there is anything we can do to make the space more comfortable and accessible for you please email programming@genderadvocacy.org. We ask that participants avoid wearing scented products.

The workshop will take place at the Centre for Gender Advocacy’s office located at 1500 de Maisonneuve West, unit 404. Accessibility details of the space can be found here.

About the Facilitator:
Shanice Nicole is an (out)spoken word artist and educator whose feminist poetry and work are tools of expression, healing and resistance in her fight for social justice. Her poetry and work explores race, mental health, sexuality, oppression, and freedom, all of which represent the many layers of her Black womanhood.
